Insufficient or improper food packaging. However, support from local food banks and advancements in sustainable plastic packaging can help delay spoilage across the production cycle, bringing fresh meats, produce, and dairy products to underserved communities.

John Kreger is Chief Operating Officer of Montgomery County Food Bank, leading all aspects of the food bank’s food sourcing, inventory management and food distribution. Prior to joining Montgomery County Food Bank, John spent 11 years with Houston Food Bank and over 20 years with several retail food brokers. During his time in the food retail brokerage industry, John co-owned a produce brokerage company.
John has been involved with the Houston Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association for more than 15 years, serving as President twice and continues to help the association as a Member at Large. John is involved with several community groups, including the Conroe Noon Lions Club and has served on their Board.
A native of the Spring Klein area, John is married to his high school sweetheart, Tammy, of 38 years. They have one son who is married and two wonderful grandchildren.
